Copyrights are often, well, confusing. We know that when we take a photograph, we own the copyright. However, others may not. I am learning the importance of including copyright information on all of my photographs when I download them into Lightroom or other library. At a minimum, anyone who sees my photographs and reviews the EXIF data will find that information embedded in the photograph.
While I do use the Creative Commons on my Flickr site, I have yet to register any of my work through the Copyright Office and the Library of Congress. After reading Scott Bourne’s post about Copyrights, I am going to start the process of registering via the eCO Online System. The system seem simple enough and I should do this for my own protection.
To learn more, visit Scott’s post, Registering Your Photographs with the Library of Congress. I learned a lot and hope you will too.
Thanks for this information! Great post.
